Photomatch Summary

Assessment

The examined Damon Stoudamire Portland Trail Blazers jersey was compared with in-game photographs from the regular-season game against the Dallas Mavericks on December 20, 2000. The examination focused on the front “BLAZERS” wordmark, the player number “3” and the surrounding black jersey fabric. Three corresponding characteristics were documented. The first is a clearly defined vertical fabric fold centered above the upper curved section of the number “3.” The second is a visible white seam incorporated into the black mesh fabric near the lower left area of the jersey front. The third is a localized irregularity in the red-and-white stitching along the lower section of the letter “Z” within the “BLAZERS” wordmark. The position, orientation and relationship of these characteristics to the surrounding lettering, numeral and jersey construction correspond between the examined garment and the in-game imagery. Particular evidentiary weight was given to the white seam and the localized stitching irregularity, as these represent construction-related characteristics of the individual jersey. The fabric fold was considered as supporting correspondence within the photographed garment configuration. No conflicting characteristic was identified within the visible comparison areas. The collective agreement of the three documented match points supports the conclusion that the examined jersey is the same individual garment worn by Damon Stoudamire against the Dallas Mavericks on December 20, 2000.
Methodology

Comparison Method

The examination was conducted through a detailed side-by-side visual comparison of the examined jersey and in-game photographs showing Damon Stoudamire during the Portland Trail Blazers’ regular-season game against the Dallas Mavericks on December 20, 2000. The analysis focused on the front “BLAZERS” wordmark, the number “3” and adjacent areas of the black jersey body. These regions were examined for correspondence in lettering and numeral placement, layered twill construction, edge contours, stitching alignment, fabric seams and localized surface formations. Three comparison points were documented. The first records the position and orientation of a vertical fabric fold centered above the upper curve of the number “3.” Because fabric folds can be affected by garment tension and player movement, this feature was evaluated as supporting evidence rather than as a permanent construction characteristic. The second point documents a white seam visibly incorporated into the black mesh near the lower left area. The third records a localized change in the contour and alignment of the red stitching along the lower section of the letter “Z.” Each characteristic was assessed according to its location, shape, orientation and relationship to the surrounding twill elements and jersey fabric. Differences caused by image resolution, camera angle, lighting, fabric curvature, garment tension and player movement were considered during the evaluation. The conclusion was based on the combined agreement of all three documented characteristics, with greater evidentiary weight assigned to the persistent seam and stitching features. No material contradiction was observed within the photographically visible comparison areas.
