Team Photoshooting Rotenburg an der Fulda

The examined Andrej Mangold Germany national team jersey was compared with photographic imagery from the official men’s national-team photoshoot held in Rotenburg an der Fulda on July 23, 2014. The comparison focused on the embroidered FIBA Europe logo patch visible on the upper front of the jersey. Two corresponding match points were documented. The first consists of a combined vertical pattern of localized folds, outward bulges and puckering along the left side of the patch, extending from the embroidered basketball graphic toward the “FIBA” lettering. The second consists of a distinct outward bulge along the right side of the patch, adjacent to the red embroidered section of the basketball graphic. The position, arrangement and orientation of these deformations correspond between the examined jersey and the photoshoot image. Because the FIBA Europe patch appears relatively small in the available reference photograph, the individual irregularities along its left side were conservatively evaluated together as one combined match point rather than separated into multiple points. The collective correspondence of both documented identifiers supports the conclusion that the examined jersey is the same individual garment worn by Andrej Mangold during the July 23, 2014 photoshoot. No conflicting characteristic was identified within the photographically visible comparison area. This photomatch establishes photoshoot use only; any possible training or game use remains unconfirmed.

The examination was conducted through a detailed side-by-side visual comparison of the examined jersey and a photograph showing Andrej Mangold during the official Germany men’s national-team photoshoot in Rotenburg an der Fulda on July 23, 2014. The analysis focused on the embroidered FIBA Europe logo patch because it contains localized construction and application characteristics extending beyond the patch’s standard manufactured design. The patch was examined for correspondence in its outer contour, surface topography, fabric puckering, folds, outward bulges and the positioning of these irregularities relative to the embroidered basketball graphic, “FIBA EUROPE” lettering and stitched outer border. Two comparison points were recorded. The first documents the combined sequence of deformations visible along the left side of the patch. These features were treated as one collective identifier because the limited size and resolution of the patch in the photoshoot image do not support their reliable separation into multiple independent match points. The second documents the localized outward projection along the right side of the patch adjacent to the red embroidered portion of the basketball graphic. Each characteristic was evaluated according to its position, contour, orientation and relationship to the surrounding embroidered elements. Differences caused by image resolution, viewing angle, lighting, garment tension, fabric curvature and Mangold’s body position during the photoshoot were considered. Temporary folds in the jersey body were distinguished, where possible, from persistent puckering and deformations associated with the construction and attachment of the patch. The conclusion was based on the combined agreement of the two documented patch characteristics rather than on the standard design of the FIBA Europe logo alone. No conclusion regarding game use was drawn because no sufficiently detailed in-game imagery has been identified for a separate photomatch examination.
