The Item

This yellow and green SC Rist Wedel jersey was game-worn by guard Lars Kamp during the 2017–18 season in Germany’s 2. Basketball Bundesliga ProB. The front features the number “7,” the SC Rist Wedel wordmark and the official 2. Basketball Bundesliga patch. The club’s yellow and green color scheme is complemented by an angular tonal pattern across the lower body and the logos of several regional sponsors. The reverse displays “KAMP” above a large number “7,” with “SC RIST WEDEL” positioned below the numeral. A circular club emblem is applied beneath the rear neckline. The jersey is marked as size L and carries additional handwritten equipment markings. On the upper chest, Kamp personally signed the jersey and added the inscription “Game Worn Jersey 2017/18,” directly confirming its use by him during the season. Following the conclusion of the 2017–18 campaign, Kamp personally presented the jersey as a gift to the founder of PhotoMatchForensics. This direct transfer from the player establishes a clear and uninterrupted provenance from Kamp to the present collection.

Story & Historical Context

Lars Kamp’s basketball development began in his native North Rhine-Westphalia. After starting with TV 1864 Salzkotten, he joined the Paderborn Baskets youth program and became part of the team that won the German Jugend-Basketball-Bundesliga championship in 2012. Kamp scored 29 points in the championship game, establishing himself as one of the prominent young guards of his age group. He later gained senior experience with Paderborn before joining the Hamburg Towers in 2016. During his time in Hamburg, Kamp also competed for cooperation partner SC Rist Wedel through the dual-license system. This arrangement allowed young players to gain meaningful playing time in the ProB while remaining part of the Towers’ ProA organization. Kamp had already made a strong impression in Wedel during the 2016–17 campaign, averaging 12.3 points across twelve appearances. In 2017–18, his commitments were concentrated primarily on the Hamburg Towers, for whom he appeared in 23 ProA games. As a result, he made only three appearances for SC Rist Wedel during that season, but averaged 11.3 points per game in those limited opportunities. The 2017–18 season was a challenging one for Rist Wedel. The team finished the ProB North regular season in ninth place and therefore missed qualification for the promotion playoffs. Wedel subsequently entered the relegation round, where the club recovered and finished first in its group to secure its place in the ProB. Kamp contributed during the closing stage of that successful fight for survival. His appearances included the 66–55 road victory over the Cuxhaven BasCats on April 15 and the decisive 79–50 home victory against ETB Wohnbau Baskets Essen on April 21, 2018. The result against Essen concluded the relegation round and confirmed Wedel’s strong finish to the season. After the campaign, Kamp left the Hamburg Towers and joined Rist Wedel on a permanent basis. During the following 2018–19 season, he developed into one of the team’s leading players, averaging 12.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.4 steals across 25 ProB appearances. This game-worn number “7” jersey documents the transitional 2017–18 season in Kamp’s career, when he represented both the Hamburg Towers and SC Rist Wedel. Its player-written “Game Worn Jersey 2017/18” inscription, autograph and direct personal presentation to the founder of PhotoMatchForensics provide especially strong provenance. More than a team-issued uniform, the jersey represents a personally documented artifact from Kamp’s association with Rist Wedel and from the club’s successful battle to preserve its ProB status.
